From Baracoa, you can walk through the city, around the Matachín Fortress and the statue of Christopher Columbus to a wide city beach. You will reach the mouth of the Miel River, which flows into the sea through a beautiful sandy estuary near a picturesque fishing village. On the way under the massive limestone cliffs, you will admire the beautiful karst formations in open caves formed by the sea surf. Finally, you will reach a cave with cool water along a walkway once built by the original inhabitants.
